NC's Hatteras lighthouse offers night tour
CAPE HATTERAS, N.C. - The National Park Service is offering the public a rare glimpse of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on North Carolina's Outer Banks for one night only.
The park service will host two "full moon" tours Thursday. Visitors must climb the 257 stairs to the top of the lighthouse. Rangers will tell stories about the lighthouse as visitors ascend. At the top, visitors will see the light and witness the operation of the beacon.
Each tour is limited to 30 people. All participants must bring a flashlight. Tickets can be purchased at the lighthouse's ticket booth.
